Elizabeth Jane Attenborough
While pursuing a successful career as a commercial photographer specializing in fashion and music, Elizabeth has methodically nurtured her vision in digital photography into its’ present tense highlighting her deep personal connection to sea and sky.
Born in Alberta, Canada; raised in Portsmouth, New Hampshire; and educated at Boston University and New England School of Photography, Elizabeth has traveled the world in her work with world renowned rock and jazz musicians. Her work has been the cover art for platinum selling CDs and has been featured in fashion and music publications around the globe. Her travels have always included time for personal exploration with her camera and those experiences have not only yielded exceptional subject matter but have sharpened her focus for artistic opportunities at home in Laguna Beach, California.
“I began to shoot and paint for myself fourteen years ago when I lived in Newburyport, Massachusetts. I loved shooting album covers, live music performances and fashion models, but on my own time I was obsessed with shooting the salt marshes on Plum Island and painting seascapes of the Atlantic. When I moved to Laguna Beach in 2010 it just all came together for me. I was literally immersed into the Pacific Ocean 24/7 and finally felt like I found myself and how to truly express myself.”
Elizabeth’s dramatic images of the sea and sky are at once impressionistic and yet in sharp focus; she does very little post production with her images. “I sometimes feel like a hunter who waits and waits and waits for the target to show up and then I wait some more for the absolute right moment to capture exactly what I want. Living in one of the most beautiful places in the world gives me an abundance of beautiful sunsets and unlimited, dramatic seascapes and yet I actually find very few moments that I choose to shoot. It has to be exactly right for me; it can’t be forced.”
Elizabeth resides in Laguna Beach, California with her husband and their beloved French Bulldog, Bugsy.
